Transform Your Vision into Reality

Experience in the context of generational construction history reveals how each era's values, technologies, and materials shape the built environment. As we examine the evolution of construction practices, we can see how traditions are passed down, adapted, and sometimes challenged by new innovations. For instance, the shift from hand-crafted methods to industrialized processes not only transformed the efficiency of construction but also influenced the design and functionality of structures. Each generation contributes to a collective understanding of architecture, reflecting societal changes, economic conditions, and environmental considerations. This ongoing dialogue between past and present ultimately enriches our approach to constructing spaces that meet the needs of future generations.

History

Benjamin Bohannan, Constructure, CEO, fifth generation concrete builder. Beginning with Thomas Bohannan, who founded Bohannan Paving in the 1930s. Initially focused on paving projects, the company quickly recognized the growing demand for specialized construction services, particularly in the areas of concrete supply.

In 1949, Bohannan Paving was officially established with the California Secretary of State, marking a milestone in the family business's evolution. Throughout the years,  we maintained a commitment to quality and innovation, positioning our business as trusted leaders in the construction of durable and resilient infrastructure that meets the demands of changing ecconomics over the decads, and constant growth in California.

1950s when Therin, Olef, and Brother Iris, known as the second generation of the family business, laid the foundation for what would become a leading player in the concrete industry. Through their vision and determination, they evolved their operations into ready-mix concrete, paving the way for modern construction practices.

By 1963, they had successfully established "TOBI" Transport with trucking, expanding to own 5 of the 15 major ready-mix concrete plants in the greater Los Angeles area. This significant expansion not only cemented their reputation in the concrete market but also highlighted their commitment to quality, particularly in concrete construction, which are crucial for enhancing the structural integrity of various construction projects.

In 1964, Glenn Bohannan, a third-generation contractor, founded Bohannan Bros alongside his brothers, establishing a reputation that has become a trusted name in the concrete industry. With a strong focus on concrete ready mix supply, Bohannan Bros built a reputation for quality and innovation. Our expertise in concrete structures ensures durability and strength, making us a preferred choice for construction projects of all sizes. As the company continues to evolve, the business remains committed to providing superior service and reliable solutions, upholding the legacy generations ago.

In 1969, Glenn Bohannan provided the concrete on the Federal Building located at 11000 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. This prestigious project, designed by Charles Luckman Associates as the headquarters for the FBI in Los Angeles, showcases our experience and skill in concrete structures, setting a high standard in the industry.

Over the years, the business expanded its expertise into concrete rebar and post-tension reinforcement, providing essential support for a variety of construction projects.

In 1975, Bryan Bohannan, a fourth-generation member of a family stepped in the concrete industry, began his journey in supplying ready-mix concrete for concrete building structures. Collaborating closely with his father, Glenn Bohannan, Bryan laid the groundwork for what would become a strong legacy in concrete rebar and post-tension reinforcement. Through hard work and dedication, the company evolved, integrating innovative techniques and materials to meet the growing demands of the construction sector. This commitment to quality and service has not only helped shape the family's business but also left a lasting impact on the industry as a whole.

Fast forward to 1999, Bohannan Bros made a strategic decision to sell all their concrete plants to a major supplier, which was controlled by Mitsubishi.

In 2002, the family concrete business took another significant step forward when Benjamin and his brother, alongside Bryan Bohannan, established themselves as a full-service concrete design-builder. With a focus on diverse projects that included multi-family residences, mixed-use developments, commercial spaces, office buildings, podiums, parking structures, and mid to high-rise constructions within the private sector. Additionally, their expertise extended to special public works projects, underscoring their versatility and commitment to quality. Their work with concrete rebar and post-tension reinforcement showcased their dedication to advancing construction techniques, ensuring durability and structural integrity in every project.
